Do you like to help others?

We rely on volunteers to do the work we do in the Cincinnati community. The enthusiasm and dedication of our volunteers means the world to us. You are absolutely essential to our success. We love our volunteers and are grateful for your help.

Volunteer Opportunities

Heldman Family Food Pantry

  • Home Delivery – Deliver a smile and food from our food pantry to homebound Jewish Family Service clients in need. 
  • Food Pick-up/Grocery Shopping – Assist our staff when picking up orders at the Freestore Foodbank, or help with shopping and then help transport the groceries back to our food pantry.
  • Grocery Packing – Help make our grocery deliveries possible by packing groceries for clients receiving home deliveries. 
  • Stocking – Help stock the pantry shelves with food and personal care items from the Freestore Foodbank or from our community’s kind donors.

K’vod Connect / Supporting Older Adults

  • Shalom Corps – Want to make long-lasting relationships with individuals in your community? Shalom Corps is looking for volunteers to provide meaningful connections to those who need it most.  The goal of K’vod Connect is to decrease social isolation in our ever-growing aging population. All volunteers will be provided training and education.
  • As a Shalom Corps volunteer, you might
    • Visit with an older adult for conversation and companionship
    • Lead or assist with Jewish Holiday and Shabbat programs
    • Share your talents – from music to art to tech help
    • Support community events that foster inclusion and connection. 

Barbash Family Vital Support Center

  • Sharing Your Uniqueness – Do you know yoga? Can you cook healthy meals on a dime?  Share your special skill, talent or hobby in a class or discussion with our clients in the Vital Support Center.

Dr. Samuel S. Rockwern Passover Delivery Project

  • Assemble Bags or Deliver Food – Help local Jewish families in need celebrate Passover by participating in our annual Passover Delivery Project. Organize, assemble, and personally deliver bags filled with food for a Seder meal. 

Special Events

  • Assist Staff  – help with special events by collating handouts, decorating, ushering, or greeting guests.

Adult Day Services

  • Buddy – spend time with participants chatting, playing cards or board games with individuals, and assist with special events (set up, clean up, etc.).
  • Lead groups – exercise, history, special topics, pet visits
  • Share musical or artistic talents
