UPDATES ON PROGRAM CHANGES

making tweaks on The long and winding road

To best protect the health and safety of the people we serve, Jewish Family Service has suspended all in-person group programs. We are following CDC recommendations and continuing to consult with medical and programming professionals as we make decisions about future programs. Events and classes hosted by the Center for Holocaust Survivors, the Russian Jewish Culture Center (RJCC), and the Barbash Family Vital Support Center have all gone online. For more information, contact: 513-469-1188.

Services delivered one-to-one—such as the CHS audiology clinic and care management—are continuing.

StarPoint Home Care is operating as usual, even at Cedar Village, where visitors are no longer being admitted.

We will update this page as the situation evolves. Our first goal is to ensure that all clients understand group activities are suspended. After that initial effort, we will focus on continuity of care and services. We also will begin to consider how to deliver programming via conference calls, Skype, and other technologies, as appropriate.

frequently asked questions & answers

What are the current hours for Barbash Family Vital Support Center and the Heldman Family Food Pantry?

Group programing at the vital support center is currently suspended. The food pantry continues to operate, but by appointment only. Extra precautions are being taken to maintain the health and safety of both our clients and professionals. For those who want to make a food donation, please contact Beth at 513-766-3322.

How does this suspension affect activities that are not group-based?

We will continue to provide a majority of our one-on-one services. (Note: see Counseling question, below.)  If that changes, more information will be shared. Examples of one-on-one services include: CHS audiology clinic, care management, AgeWell Cincinnati intake and referrals, driving clients to doctor’s appointments and more.

What is the status with Counseling Services?

Counseling sessions are continuing, but they are being conducted via video-conferencing, only, in keeping with federal and state regulations and to comply with insurance guidelines.

How will clients be notified about the suspension of group programming?

Program leaders are working with their teams to prioritize phone outreach. We also are preparing to place automatic (robo) calls as back-up communications support starting later this week.

Is the Mayerson JCC still providing transportation?

No, the JCC is closed until May 1. However, the JCC’s transportation team can still be reached at: 513-722-7255.

Will group activities continue at the Barbash Family Vital Support Center?

No. Out of an abundance of caution for our professional team and the people they serve, we are suspending group programs, including our support group.

How are we helping prevent the spread of COVID-19?

As the agency charged with serving some of the most frail and vulnerable among us, we are deeply invested in preserving continuity of care and service. We believe our clients need our care now more than ever. So in order to best protect our clients and prevent the spread of COVID-19, most of our employees are working remotely. Those who deliver essential services, who are still in contact with clients, are wearing protective equipment, such as gloves and masks. Jewish Family Service remains open, and our staff members can each be reached at their same email address and phone number. If you need assistance, you can still call our main office line at 513-469-1188.
