Post-Adoption Services

Jewish Family Service and its Cincinnati Adoption Connection program have built hundreds of families since 1943. Although we no longer accept new pregnancy clients, adoptive families, or make new adoption placements, we remain dedicated to providing post-adoption services. Facilitating Your Access to Adoption Records

If you are an adoptee, birth parent or adoptive family, and your adoption was finalized through Jewish Family Service, we can help you access non-identifying information from your records. The Ohio Revised Code prohibits adoption agencies from providing identifying information, including names and contact information. Prior to making a request with us, there are steps you can take to begin your search.

Visit the Ohio Department of Vital Statistics. If you are an adoptee, you can download paperwork and instructions for requesting your original birth certificate. If you are a birth parent, you can file a Contact Preference Form to give your adult child direct contact information should they request their record.
Register with International Soundex Reunion at isrr.org or 888-886-ISSR. The International Soundex Reunion Registry is a mutual consent reunion registry for those desiring a reunion with family members.

Services and Information We Can Provide

Non-Identifying Social and Medical History
- This is a document that provides non-identifying information about the birth family including any medical information.
Record Update
- Clients may update their file at any time, including medical changes and contact information.
Check File for Contact
- Clients may request that their file be checked for updates or correspondence (from an adoptee, birth parent or adoptive family.) Should the file contain an update or correspondence, a social worker can facilitate delivery of this information.
