Estelle Galper, LISW
Estelle Galper joined Jewish Family Service in 1988 to provide psychotherapy to adolescents, adults, couples and groups. She is trained in Gestalt therapy and psychodrama, and her areas of specialty include individual and group work with women who have been sexually abused.
Estelle also works with men and women who have relationship and self-esteem problems. Another interest is in helping couples of all ages, stages and sexual orientations to improve communications skills.
Estelle earned her Master’s in Social Work from the University of Pittsburgh. She is a Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW) in the State of Ohio and an Academy Certified Social Worker through the National Association of Social Workers.
Before she joined Jewish Family Service, Estelle served as part of a multidisciplinary team at a community hospital in Pittsburgh, Pa. for seven years. Her work included crisis intervention in the emergency room and intensive care units, but she was primarily focused on the adolescent and adult psychiatric units. She also led weekly groups for families of patients in the units.
“I enjoy interacting with people to influence their lives in a positive way,” explains Estelle. “I feel privileged to have the opportunity to do the work that I love.”
